Reading About Reading

We learn a lot of history from books, but this exhibit is about the history of books and Americans' many relationships to them. For some, books have provided escape, entertainment or inspiration. For others, they have been tools of communication, resistance, or social mobility. Still others have made their livings creating, promoting, or critiquing books. Read up on the many ways Americans have read, discussed, and fought over books.
